UPDATE (2/13) 8:50 a.m.: One lane of NY-17C has now reopened, according to 511NY, New York's travel tracking website. The eastbound lane is still blocked as emergency crews remain on the scene. Traffic is now flowing through the state route in an alternating pattern.


BARTON, N.Y. (WENY) -- New York 17C in Barton is closed Tuesday morning over a fire/explosion, according to 511NY. All lanes are blocked.

The fire department and Department of Transportation are on scene. The road has been closed since 4 a.m. Tuesday, there is no timetable yet to reopen.

Detours have been set up. Traffic heading West is asked to take Halsey Valley Rd., Allyn Rd., 5th Ave. and get back onto NY-17C. Eastbound traffic is asked to do the same in the reverse order: 5th Ave. to Allyn Rd. to Halsey Valley Rd. and then back onto NY-17C.
