Workshop in Ithaca will help utility customers apply for energy assistance
ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- In the dead of winter it can get incredibly expensive heating your home, but help is available to many who need it. To that end, Senator Lea Webb, Assemblymember Anna Kelles, the Public Utility Law Project of New York and more are hosting a workshop in Ithaca on Thursday, Jan. 25th to help residents find out if they are eligible for financial and utility assistance programs.
The workshop will take place at the Greater Ithaca Activities Center 4 p.m. and will go until 7 p.m. Trained advocates will be on hand to help check eligibility for a variety of utility bill relief programs, including New York State Electric and Gas’s (“NYSEG”) Energy Affordability Program monthly bill discount, the Home Energy Assistance Program (“HEAP”), and more.
If you want to attend, you are encouraged to bring a valid form of identification, a copy of their utility bill, and if possible, a copy of your benefits award letter from a program like HEAP. If you are falling behind on your bills and need help now, please contact PULP at 877-669-2572 or send an email to [email protected] for further assistance.
The snow date has been set for Thursday, February 1 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. if needed.
