Corning Incorporated lays off approximately 1,000 workers globally

CORNING, NY (WENY) -- Corning Incorporated is reducing its workforce, but not only in the Twin Tiers. The Fortune 500 company confirmed to WENY News that it has laid off nearly 2% of its global workforce this week.
Corning Inc. has approximately 51,000 workers across the globe, according to its company profile. These cuts affect about 1,000 of those employees.
“Near-term revenues across our businesses are expected to continue to be lower than previous outlooks. As a result of these macroeconomic challenges, we took the difficult but necessary decision to evaluate our capital and operating costs, which resulted in a limited reduction of our global workforce. We remain confident in our market opportunities and will continue to invest to capture growth across our businesses going forward," said a company spokesperson.
The company has 150 global locations across 30 countries. Corning Inc.'s 2023 4th Quarter earnings report is expected later this month.
