ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Chemung County's Dwyer Program has released information regarding social events for Veterans upcoming in January. The Dwyer Program is a peer-to-peer veterans support initiative designed to help veterans socialize and re-enter their communities through interaction.

Every month, the program establishes weekly events and sometimes one-off events to help bring veterans of all branches together. Following New Year's Day, the Chemung County Dwyer Program will be hosting a series of events throughout January.

On Mondays, the Got Your Six veteran support group will hold meetings from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at the The City of Light Church on 300 Lake Street in Downtown Elmira.
Please note there is no meeting on Monday, January 1st.

Yoga classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Feldenkrais classes will take place on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.

The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 803 will hold support group sessions on Fridays from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the Vietnam Veterans Museum on 1200 Davis Street in Elmira.

One-time events in January include the following:
A veterans lunch will take place at Libertad, located at 624 Baldwin Street in Elmira on Tuesday, January 9th. The lunch begins at 12:30 P.M.
The Italian American Veterans Club is hosting a coffee mess on Thursday October 19th from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. on 1070 Magee Street in Elmira.

Just a reminder, if you don't live in Chemung County -- Schuyler, Steuben and Tioga Counties each have their own Dwyer program with events for veterans.
