Man charged with attempted murder in Elmira after stabbing
UPDATE 12/27: The Elmira Police Department identified the victim of the stabbing as 56 year old Elmira resident Arthur Williams Sr. EPD said they were informed on December 24th that the victim passed away at a local hospital where he was receiving medical care.
The remains an active investigation.
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Elmira Police Department arrested a man Monday afternoon after a report of a stabbing.
Police said they were dispatched to the 400 block of Columbia Street around 3:45PM, where they found a victim who suffered a stab wound to the abdomen. Officers said they were able to locate a suspect after gathering a description, and made an arrest.
Police said 45-year-old Vincent Rodriguez of Elmira was charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree. He is currently awaiting arraignment in Elmira City Court.
EPD said the victim was taken to an area hospital and is in critical condition.
