Salvation Army is seeking donations
CORNING, N.Y (WENY) -- As we are in the season of giving, the Salvation Army in Corning is urgently asking for donations to meet their $70,000 goal for this year's Red Kettle Campaign. So far, they have obtained less than half of their goal for 2023.
''Now, we're making a plea because we are desperate to reach this goal. It is just a tremendous help and the need is greater. We have more families coming in during the year for utilities, assistance, housing and for food as well, ''said Major Anita Stewart with the Salvation Army.
The Red Kettle donations help fund Salvation Army programs and services throughout the year, which assist those most in need. These programs include food, emergency assistance, youth programs and veterans' services.
''The theme this year is Christmas Love Beyond, and it reminds individuals. and people in the community that the money they give us is not just for Christmas, but it helps us throughout the year with our programing, said Major Anita Stewart.
There are several ways persons can make donations. You can at any Red Kettle, call (607) 962-4681 or through their website .
