Arnot Health Patients Seeing Rise in Spam Phone Calls

ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- Arnot Health is reporting that patients are seeing an uptick in spam phone calls, trying to glean personal information.
According to an Arnot Health spokesperson, the number on the Call ID may show Arnot Ogden Medical Center, St. Joseph's or Ira Davenport Hospital. The health system says it's not unusual to get a call from Arnot, if they need to contact you to pre-register or to schedule a procedure.
However, spam callers may try to get you to share personal information, such as your date of birth, social security number, insurance information or Medicare or Medicaid information.
Arnot recommends that if you suspect the call is truly not coming from Arnot Health, tell the person you will call them back and hang up. Then call the main number of the facility they say they are calling from, and let the operator know someone is trying to reach you, and share the office or area of the system. You can then be transferred on a secure line.
Below are the main lines for Arnot Health's three hospital facilities:
Arnot Ogden Medical Center – 607-737-4100
St. Joseph's Hospital – 607-733-6541
Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital – 607-776-8500
