Communities to Host Pearl Harbor Remembrance Events on December 7

OWEGO, NY/WELLSBORO, PA (WENY) -- At least two local communities will host remembrance events on the 82nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
On December 7th, 1941, the Pearl Harbor Naval Base in Honolulu, Hawaii was attacked by Japanese military forces. The attack killed more than 2,400 Americans, including both service members and civilians. Among the dead was Seaman First Class Delmar Dale Sibley of Owego, who was serving on board the USS Arizona.
On Thursday, the Owego VFW will host a remembrance ceremony at 12:55PM. And at 1PM on Thursday, a re-dedication ceremony will be held for Wellsboro's World War II Memorial, at 134 Main Street, next to the Green Free Library.
