360-degree holiday dome show returns to Corning Community College
CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- Corning Community College's Digital Dome Theater will be showing an immersive, holiday-themed dome show this weekend and the weekend after next.
The show titled, 'Let It Snow' takes a variety of classic Christmas songs by artists like Frank Sinatra, Brenda Lee and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and animates them.
The show was originally put on by the college last year. Officials decided to bring it back due to how popular it was.
"We heard from a lot of people that... really wanted to go to that show, but by the time [they] heard about it, it was over," said Jennifer Sellers, SUNY CCC Director of Innovative Learning Sites.
'Let It Snow' and other shows like it have helped increase awareness in the community about Corning's dome, which also hosts other 360 shows and astronomy events.
"We've had really high performance for these shows that are non-astronomy. I think that maybe people are intimidated by astronomy," Sellers said. "So this is an opportunity for them to see that the dome is actually multifunctional."
"Let It Snow' will be playing in Corning's Digital Dome Theater Friday, Dec. 1 at 5, 6 and 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., Dec. 15 at 6 and 7 p.m. and Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
Tickets for the event cost $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $4 for children ages 5-17. Children 4-years-old or under are free. You can get tickets here.
