STATE ROUTE 13, N.Y. (WENY) -- According to New York State Police, one person is dead after a multi-vehicle crash happened on State Route 13 on Thursday, October 26th. Police said the crash happened around 8:20 a.m.

In a preliminary investigation by NYSP, it revealed 41-year-old was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion traveling northbound in the left lane and attempted to overtake a 2019 Chevy Silverado. The unnamed driver of the Chevy Silverado was a 25-year-old man from Pine Valley was also traveling northbound but in the right lane. The driver of the Chevy Silverado was pulling an open trailer with lawn equipment.

State Police said the driver of the Chevy Silverado began to merge left due to the right lane ending. Police said the driver of the Ford Fusion was speeding up in an attempt to get around the Silverado and then made contact with the truck's rear and trailer, causing it to lose control and travel into the southbound lane.

In the southbound lane, was an oncoming Freightliner which struck the Chevy Silverado, and the two collided. Police said the 25-year-old Chevy Silverado driver was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead on scene.

Police said the driver of the Fordf was taken to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre by life flight and is stable condition. The Ford then hit the rear of the Chevy, causing it to lose control and later veered into the southbound lane.

The driver of the Freightliner, 33-year-old was checked out by EMS on scene and released.
