WELLSBORO, Pa (WENY) -- On Saturday, October 21st, Highland Chocolate Factory had its grand reopening following a year of renovations. The reopening celebrated the newly installed modern technology. Highland Chocolate Factory wants to create an all-inclusive environment by hiring people with disabilities. 

"All of our individuals that we employ have a disability of some type and we work with them on developing skills, not only just to be working here at the Chocolate Factory, but also to carry on to any type of community job that they might desire," says Irene Morgan from Highland Chocolate Factory.

Todd Crumb is one of many employees who comes to work every day with a huge smile on his face. He has been working for the chocolate factory for around 28 years. Crumb's job during the reopening was to gather the freshly coated chocolate pretzels and sort them. 

"I do pretzels, I do [the] taking off the belt and coating and all that stuff like that," says Crumb.

Mike Baker has spent close to 25 years working at the Wellsboro chocolate wonderland and his job involves sealing up a variety of chocolate barks.

"What I'm doing right now, I've laid bark in a bag and now I'm labeling it," says Baker.

The updated technology helps staff make some of its goodies in-house simply, safely, and diligently. 

"I put chocolate in my funnels," begins to explain Employee of Highland Chocolate Factory Luella Miller. "[Then] I will put it on the shaker table and it will get the air bubbles out {Next} I will put it in the I will put it on one of our cooling tunnels to get to cool or the refrigerator. {Lastly} I would come over and pop them out and put them in a container." 

Being inside a chocolate factory feels like a Willy Wonka moment. Miller quotes what Wonka once said "We are the music makers and the dreamers of dreams. So welcome to our dream come true." 

Highland Chocolate Factory is open Monday through Friday 10 am to 4 pm. They are located at 11724 US-6, Wellsboro, PA 16901.
