Marine Corps League to Host Birthday Ball
BIG FLATS, NY (WENY) -- The E.J. Brewer Detachment of the Marine Corps League is hosting a birthday ball to celebrate the birthday of the United States Marine Corps.
The United States Marine Corps was established on November 10th, 1775. In 2023, the military branch will celebrate 248 years of service. Each year, the USMC celebrates with a Birthday Ball, which includes an evening of traditions unique to the Marines.
The Marine Corps League is a veterans organization whose mission is to "promote the interest and to preserve traditions of the United States Marine Corps; strengthen the fraternity of Marines and their families; serve Marines, FMF Corpsmen, and FMF Chaplains who wear or have worn the Eagle, Globe and Anchor; and foster the ideals of Americanism and patriotic volunteerism," according to its mission statement.
The E.J. Brewer Detachment will celebrate with a Marine Birthday Ball on Saturday, November 5th. The event will be hosted at the Big Flats American Legion at 45 Olcott Road S.
The evening begins at 5PM with a cocktail cash bar, with a dinner buffet to follow, as well live music featuring the Swing Street band, and guest speaker, Major Edwin B. Powers, USMC.
Admission is $25 per couple, or $15 per person. People are asked to RSVP by contacting Ken Andrus at 607-739-1352, for the Marine Corps. League to know how many people to expect.
