Elmira native Johnny Beecher makes Boston Bruins final roster
BOSTON, M.A. (WENY) - Elmira native, Johnny Beecher is set to play in the NHL.
Beecher made the Boston Bruins final roster and will be on the team on opening night this Wednesday.
Beecher was selected 30th overall by the Bruins in the 2109 NHL Draft. He was a standout at Michigan where he scored 19 goals and added 20 assists over 81 games in three seasons with the Wolverines.
Beecher then spent time in the AHL with the Providence Bruins where he finished the 2021-22 season with 3 goals and 2 assists in 9 games. Last season with Providence, Beecher tallied 9 goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 61 games.
In the preseason with Boston, Beecher scored a goal against the New York Rangers and he added an assist during his time on the ice.
Beecher will wear number 19 for Boston, who will open the season at home against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
