Four people hurt in Erin car crash
ERIN, N.Y. (WENY) -- There was a car crash that resulted in four people being taken to the hospital, along with a dog that needed treatment, in Erin last night. The crash happened on Route 223, also known as Swartwood Hill Road, in between Erin and Van Etten.
Police said the driver, a man in his early 20s, was airlifted to the hospital with internal injuries. A male passenger, also in his late 20s, was also airlifted for his leg injuries. A female passenger in her mid-30s was taken by an ambulance with leg injuries. Another female passenger in her early 30s went to the hospital by a private vehicle. The dog was taken by the Elmira Animal Shelter to be treated for its cuts.
According to New York State Police, speed was a factor in the crash. Police added that intoxication or impairment was not a factor in this incident.
