Police: Two men stole from multiple cars and home in Corning

CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- Two men are in custody after Corning Police say they were responsible for a number of recent vehicle larcenies and one residential burglary. After an investigation in the string of crimes that included a search warrant, Corning Police arrested 18-year-old Manuel Colon Jr. of Corning, and 21-year-old Malik Smith of Rochester.
According to police, there were a number of reports in September of stolen items from vehicles across the City. After an investigation, police were able to identify two suspects.
On Sept. 29th, police executed a search warrant at a East Third St. home and recovered a large amount of what police say is stolen property from the scene. According to police, the property was linked to the stolen items from the vehicles and one home.
As a result Colon and Smith have been charged with Burglary in the second degree. Both were processed and turned over to the Steuben County Jail where they are being held on bail.
The Corning Police Department used this case as an opportunity to remind residents to lock their cars and homes.
