UPDATE FROM 10/02/2023, 6:30 p.m. -- Pennsylvania State Police have identified the woman who was killed in Knoxville, Pa. on Friday, Sept. 29th. State Police say the victim was identified as Layanah Griffin. Police did not say how she was killed or how the victim and the man accused of her murder knew each other. 


8PM UPDATE: Pennsylvania State Police have made an arrest in what is now being classified as a homicide. Twenty-one-year-old Brendan York is charged with Criminal Homicide, Aggravated Assault, and Possessing Instruments of Crime. 

York is now in the Tioga County prison, pending a preliminary hearing. According to state police the victim is a known female to York. Authorities did not disclose how the York and the victim knew each other, nor the identity of the victim at this time.


KNOXVILLE, PA (WENY) -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a death at a home in Knoxville Borough, in Tioga county, Pennsylvania. According to police there is no threat to the public. 

Details are limited at this time, but a home at 308 South Water Street is cordoned off with police tape. State police investigators can be seen going in and out of the home. A PSP forensics unit, and reconstruction vehicle are also on scene. Two cars parked outside of the home are also within the police line.
