STELA robotics program comes to Corning
CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- STELA, known as the Science Technology Entrepreneurship Leadership Academy, is bringing robotics programs to Corning for children to take advantage of all year long.
This non-profit organization provides children ages five to 1-years-old (K-8) with the opportunity to learn about science, technology, and math in a fun, inclusive way. The founder of the program, Eric Biribuze, decided to open the new space, located at 44 Bridge Street in Corning, to make sure everyone feels welcome to stop on by, no matter what their skill level is.
“We just want you to come here because this builds connections, grows our own community...together,” he said. “While, at the same time, the kids learn life skills, how to collaborate, how to connect, and how to be good citizens.”
Biribuze said he wants kids to look into future careers in the STEM field. He added, robotics is a fun way to get kids hooked on science and tech because kids like to play and compete.
STELA is open to anyone from minority groups and people from any economic background. The open house for the new STELA hub will be this Saturday, on September 30th, from 1 to 5 p.m.
