Elmira Police find body in Elmira
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - Elmira Police have identified the body of a homeless man that was found this past weekend. After receiving a phone call regarding the incident, police discovered a 56-year-old man’s body in a wooded area behind Dollar Tree and the old Tops Grocery Store adjacent to the railroad tracks in Elmira.
\The area where he was found is known by police to be near a camp used by homeless individuals.
Authorities have identified the body and confirmed that he most likely died from natural causes or an overdose. The family of the man was notified of the circumstances but declined an autopsy.
His name has not been publicly released and no further investigation is expected.
