HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Meet Gracie, WENY's Pet of the Week from the Horseheads Community Animal Shelter!

Buddy is about three years old and is a Yellow Labrador Retriever mix. Employees say he’s good when it comes to interacting with other dogs and best described as having a friendly temperament with them despite being big or small. The shelter says he would best suit an older couple that enjoy casual strolls as he’ll walk in a heel walk next to you.

Buddy behaves well around young children, but it’s advised to take precaution due to his size. However, he won’t try to bite or attack any of your little ones.

Sept. 23rd will be the “Helping Horses & Hounds Sunset Run” that helps local animal shelter in the Finger Lakes. For Horseheads Community Animal Shelter, it’s their biggest event of the year as they partner with the organization. The shelter expects to receive all donations which help support funding.

For more information on how to sign up for the race, you can visit their website to secure your spot.
