The Harvest Festival returns to Corning's Gaffer District, other events happening in Steuben County
CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- September marks the start of fall activities in Steuben County, including the Harvest Festival, Steuben Farm Trail Day and Wings and Wheels.
The Harvest Festival is a popular fall event that features, hayrides, tractor displays, a scavenger hunt, on street vendors, outdoor dining and live music. It takes place September 15 and September 16. Event planners have scheduled 13 different bands and artists to perform during the two day event. On Friday, four blocks of Market Street will each house their own live band from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Also happening on Sept. 16, the Glenn H. Curtis Museum will turn Keuka Lake into a seaplane runway for its 'Wings & Wheels' event. Seaplanes were developed on Keuka Lake in 1911 by Glenn Curtis, according to Explore Steuben's Communications Manager Dave DeGolyer.
"He developed how to take off and land. He really had a big part in seaplanes and flying boats," DeGolyer said
The event happening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. features seaplane competitions, a seaplane parade and other shows at Depot Park. The Classic and Exotic Car Show will also be happening in the Village Square that Saturday.
On Saturday, Sept. 23, nine farms in Steuben County will be hosting Steuben Farm Trail Day. Each farm decides what events they will host individually. Activities happening across the various farms are expected to include wagon rides, demonstrations, crafts, animals and educational experiences, among other things.
Farms participating include Crooked Line Apple Orchard, Lowrey Family Farms, Mud Creek Bison Ranch, Stewart’s Family Farm, ZiegenVine Homestead, Hemlock Ridge Farm, Autumn Mist Alpaca Farm, Bluebird Trail Farm and Evermore Farms.
Steuben Farm Trail Day runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
