An art studio in Lindley is enriching the lives of others through art
LINDLEY, N.Y. (WENY) -- Heart Studio, a hands on pottery studio located just ten minutes from downtown Corning in Lindley is offering a place for people to interact as an enhancement tool for fostering healing and mental well-being.
On September twenty third Beth's studio will be hosting a workshop for veterans as part of the Dwyer Veteran Peer Support Project.
The Dwyer Veteran Peer Project is a peer-to-peer program for veterans facing the challenges of PTSD and Traumatic brain injury.
Owner of Heart Studio Beth Conway tells me the mission she hopes to accomplish by taking part in this initiative
"I've struggled with depression myself so I definitely have an empathetic heart towards people that might be in pain, if I can provide some kind of relief even if its for the amount of time that they're here then that's the thing that I hope for."
Beth's studio offers a variety of different clay options as well as painting, so there's something for everyone to enjoy.
"I have all sorts of clay that people can use, they can use the wheel we have sculptures, hand building, also painting is an option so those are the types of things that people can expect when they come in "
Many that have come to Beth's studio leave feeling happy and relaxed.
"When I came in sometimes I'm a little tense just with things in life and things that can bring on some anxiety or some nerves when you come in and paint or manipulate the clay it just has a very relaxing feeling." says painted post resident Mindy Aumick.
Heart studio is open to anyone who would like to participate in a session.
A two hour session for adults is $70. Children are $50.
Heart Studio's hours are as follows, Tuesday through Friday, 8 A.M. to 9 P.M. Saturday through Monday 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.
