Village of Horseheads releases statement on Trustee Mark Cronin's alleged DUI crash
HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Horseheads Village Manager issued a statement on Friday, July 7th on Trustee Mark Cronin, who was arrested Tuesday, July 4th on DUI related charges. Police say Cronin was drunk when he crashed into another car, injuring eight people, including six children.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to each of the families involved in this unfortunate incident. We also want to recognize the professionalism of the 1st responders that rendered aid," said Village Manager Nathan Nagle in a prepared statement.
Beyond that, however Nagle called the incident personal in nature, and that the village is not involved. He added the village will have no further comment.
As WENY News previously reported, Cronin stands accused of crashing into another car after failing to stop at a stop sign in Penn Yan. All eight people in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital, six of them were children, some of whom had to be taken to the hospital via helicopter.
