ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- An Elmira man was indicted on a slew of charges, including attempted murder, after shots were fired on the city's Southside last month.

20-year-old Jose Polanco was indicted by a Chemung County Grand Jury on seven different charges. Those charges included attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.

As WENY News reported back in June, police said there was an argument between two people in the area of West Hudson and South Walnut Street. That argument escalated into gunshots, and a passing car that was not involved in the incident, was hit by a bullet -- breaking the window. EPD said no one was injured, and the intended shooting victim did not cooperate with police. Polanco was later located on Broadway Street, but the alleged weapon was not recovered.
