IPD said this arrest was made after an ongoing joint investigation by Ithaca Police Investigators, Cornell Police, the Collier County Sheriff Department in Florida, and the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Ithaca Police said this investigation is centered around internet scams.

Ithaca Police said there were numerous people being victimized, including elderly people and vulnerable citizens across the country. Kirtania is responsible for scamming over $100,000, police said.

It is expected by police officials that there will be more money from scams to be uncovered as this investigation continues.
