UPDATE: 05/02/23 3:30 p.m. -- In a statement released by the Yates County District Attorney Todd Casella, there will be at least one more plea agreement as a result of an investigation into an alleged child sex trafficking ring.

According to Casella there are 10 pending cases as a result of the investigation into an alleged sex trafficking ring. Of those 10 cases, Casella said two individuals are scheduled for sentencing, one case has been returned to local court, one is expected to conference to discuss a plea agreement in the near future, and another defendant is scheduled to plead guilty later this month.

Casella also blamed bail reform laws as to why some defendants are free on bail or were not given bail at all.

"The Court is not permitted to consider whether the defendant poses a risk to the public, what sentence the defendant is facing if convicted, or the strength of the case against the defendant in determining bail. In all of these cases the People advocated for bail," Casella said.

"The investigators and troopers involved built such an overwhelming case against Daugherty that he accepted a plea which will all but certainly result in his incarceration for the rest of his life," said Yates County District Attorney Todd Casella in a statement.
