Meet Waffle, WENY's SPCA Pet of the Week!
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Meet Waffle, WENY's Pet of the Week from the Chemung County Humane Society and SPCA!
Waffle is a 10-month-old male terrier/hound mix. While he can be a bit reserved at first, he will soon give you tons of affection once he opens up. Due to his timid nature, he should go to a home where he can receive the reassurance and support to learn how to be a confident dog. A quieter home would be ideal, and any children should be pre-teens or teenagers. The SPCA is unsure how Waffle reacts around cats, but he does get along well with some dogs. A meet-and-greet would be required if any potential owner has another animal.
In order to make Waffle and his furry friends' stays at the SPCA enjoyable, Iron Flamingo Brewery will be holding a "Yappy Hour" at their Baker Street location on Thursday, May 11. In addition to raffle prizes, giveaways and a food truck, $1 of each beer sold from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. will be donated to the Chemung County SPCA.
Another way to help the animals at the shelter is through donations. Currently, the SPCA is looking for dry and wet food for both dogs and cats. Towels and blankets are also necessary, and any other donation ideas can be found on the SPCA's wishlist. If you are interested in donating to the SPCA, more details can be found here.
With Monday marking the first day of May, the SPCA encourages pet owners to vaccinate their animals so they stay protected when they go outside. The shelter currently has some appointments available for its vaccination clinics. Any interested pet owners can schedule an appointment here.
If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Waffle, fill out an application on the SPCA's website here.
