Watkins Glen Man Arrested After Police Chase, Allegedly Stole Truck
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) - A Watkins Glen Man was arrested after a police chase on Wednesday involving an alleged stolen truck that was driven across county lines.
According to New York State Police, 33 year old Albert Jones of Watkins Glen allegedly drove a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck that was previously reported stolen by the Watkins Glen Police Department.
Troopers say they located the vehicle travelling on State Route 414 in the Corning area and attempted to conduct a traffic stop when Jones refused to comply.
State Police, with the help of the Corning Police Department, pursued Jones in the area of Lamphear Court, where Jones lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an apartment building.
Jones then left the vehicle and ran away. A short time later, police caught up to Jones.
Jones faces multiple charges including Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.
Jones was brought to Guthrie Corning Hospital where he was treated and released with minor injuries.
He was then brought to Steuben County Jail.
