(WENY) - Congressman Nick Langworthy of New York's 23rd District made an appearance an Elmira Thursday afternoon to discuss recent cuts to Medicare Advantage.

Langworthy claims that the program will result in substantial service cuts.

He says that the changes will raise costs and lower benefits which will affect southern Tier seniors. He says he is taking action getting colleagues of his to sign on to a letter to the administration to call for these cuts to be eliminated.

"We're working hard to build a coalition of people to stop this so that they cannot cut this very important benefit that our seniors depend on," said Langworthy.

Langworthy claims that the President has been dishonestly spreading falsehoods that Republicans plan to cut Medicare.
