Windy Weather

* WINTER STORM WARNING FOR YATES, TIOGA(NY), SCHUYLER, TOMPKINS AND BRADFORD(PA) UNTIL 8 AM WEDNESDAY **
** WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM WEDNESDAY FOR CHEMUNG, STEUBEN AND TIOGA(PA) **
Periods of snow are likely today as a strong low pressure system off the coast ushers in snow. Most valley locations across the region can expect about 3" of accumulation, while some of the higher terrain across the Finger Lakes region could be looking at 10"+ of snowfall. Blowing snow is likely as winds will gusts over 30 mph at times today, reducing visibility. There is a slight chance for some power outages as well as this system brings gusty winds. Snow will taper off as scattered snow showers Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. High pressure will return for mid-week, keeping us dry until late week. Partly sunny skies are to follow and the winds will continue to gust out of the Northwest for Wednesday. By Thursday, temperatures will rise into the upper-40s, around 50 degrees under partly sunny skies. Our next system will bring a front through Friday with some rain showers as temperatures rise into the lower-50s. The following cold front will sweep by Friday night into Saturday morning with a few lingering rain showers possible into Saturday. Drier weather is expected the rest of the weekend with highs in the mid-40s Saturday followed by mid-30s Sunday under partly sunny skies. Fair skies will continue into early next week with highs in the mid-40s.
