ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - On Thursday, the Elmira City Republican Committee announced republican candidates for both mayor and city council districts at the White Eagles club in Elmira.

The candidates involved a mix of new and familiar faces. One of those familiar faces is current Mayor Dan Mandell.

Joining him are Patrick Griffin in the 1st district, Charles Cerio in the 2nd district, Joseph Duffy in the 3rd district, Mark Franchi in the 4th district, and Nannette Moss in the 6th district.

Mandell discussed the many successes the city has seen over the last 4 to 8 years and says he wants to keep the momentum going forward.

"It's exciting pushing forward, like I said, moving the city forward," Mandell said. "We've got people moving into the city for the first time in a long time, our downtown is back being revitalized, we're going to concentrate on the neighborhoods in this next term, just keep the momentum going. We're going to attack our problems, and we're going to to triumph on what we've already accomplished."

Mandell says that there is still work to be done including addressing homelessness and crime in Elmira.
