ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- For the first time since 2020, Ithaca High School hosted their first Code Red Robotics team open house. The interactive exhibit engaged all ages with STEM activates on this chilly Saturday in the Twin Tiers.
“So today is the reboot of a really special event that the IHS (Ithaca High School) code red robotics team has typically held pre-pandemic. We had a two-year Hyades. Just trying to keep people safe, you know limiting human contact and things like that/ So we are really excited to reboot this,” said Ian Krywe the faculty advisor at Ithaca High School," said Ian Krywe the faculty advisor at Ithaca High School.
STEM is a baseline term used to group science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into a program. The discipline pushes and motivates Individual's to use necessary skills to generate new ideas.
“So, we are having this open house. It is a great opportunity to reach out to the younger generation and introduce the community to stem and ourselves and other STEM programs in the Ithaca area," said Student Claire Kwak
Kids got the opportunity to use STEM skills with fun programs using lego bricks and slime.
“Right here we are doing some slime and legos for the younger kids. It’s a really great way to introduce scientific idea in a fun way that is accessible for kids," said Kwak.
In addition to Ithaca High Schools first Robotics team open house. 89 students will be assembling and finishing their 2023 robot for a completion later in March.
