ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A man is in the hospital after getting hit by a car in Elmira. 

Police say a 53-year-old man was taken to Robert Packer Hospital with "significant injuries." 

A pile of clothes was found lying in front of the car on the road. It is unclear who they belong to. 

Officers say the man was hit by a woman late Wednesday night while she was driving down Columbia St. near Weis Markets. 

The investigation is ongoing.
