ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Chemung County Transit driver is in stable condition at Robert Packer Hospital with a head injury after his bus was struck by a Jeep yesterday in Elmira and crashed into a house. According to the Elmira Police Department there were no passengers in the bus at the time of the crash. 

The driver of the Jeep was treated on the scene, transported to Arnot Ogden Hospital with minor injuries and has since been released. The driver of the Jeep has been issued a citation for Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.

Police obtained multiple videos of the crash from both residents and the C-Tran bus during their investigation. According to Police those videos shows that the Jeep was traveling south on Euclid Ave. and failed to slow down at a stop sign, striking the bus.


ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Chemung County transit bus jumped the curb, clipping a house on the corner of West Clinton St. and Euclid Ave. in the City of Elmira Monday afternoon.

According to WENY, a witness said an SUV ran a stop sign and hit the bus. The bus then went off the road, hitting the house.

The SUV was taken away on a tow truck. There is no word yet on the extent of any injuries.
