Benjamin C. Klein
Benjamin C. Klein joined the WENY News team in September of 2022 as a News Producer. Originally from Long Island, N.Y., Ben had previously worked for newspapers in Albany, Plattsburgh, New Hampshire and throughout the Twin Tiers before joining the WENY News team.
Ben graduated from the State University at Albany where he graduated with a major in European History and minor in Journalism. The fact he was only six credits short of a double major continues to haunt him to this day.
Until coming to WENY News, Ben mostly worked as a freelance print media journalist. Throughout his nearly 16 years working in the media Ben has written for the New Hampshire Union Leader, the Citizen of Laconia, the Binghamton Press-Sun, Ithaca Journal, Ithaca Voice, Elmira Star-Gazette, Watkins Glen Review and Express, Sayre Morning Times, the Bleacher Report and many more.
Ben cut his teeth as a young reporter at an internship with the Legislative Gazette, a weekly Albany newspaper staffed entirely by student reporters from SUNY schools. Ben credits his time at the Gazette with not only helping mold him as a reporter but also shaping him into the kind of person he is.
Ben's career has afforded him the opportunity to cover a variety of topics including presidential elections, small town corruption, crypto-currency mining and a fair number of Easter Egg hunts. In his career Ben is most proud of his coverage of the Boston Marathon Bombing.
When Ben isn't scouring leads to bring you the latest news, he is a dedicated homebody spending every chance he can with his wife and two young daughters.
