Inauguration date approaches for NY Gov. Kathy Hochul
ALBANY, N.Y. (WENY) -- Final preparations are underway for Governor Kathy Hochul's inauguration.
The ceremony will take place on Jan. 1 at 2 p.m., and will officially start the governor's first full term in office.
Hochul, 64, was initially elected as New York’s lieutenant governor in 2014 and reelected in 2018. The Buffalo native then took office as governor on August 24, 2021, after former Gov. Andrew Cuomo resigned amid sexual assault allegations.
Also taking their oaths of office will be Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado, Attorney General Letitia James and comptroller Tom Dinapoli. All four democrats are set to speak after being sworn in.
The ceremony will be streamed live on the governor's website, governor.ny.gov.
