HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- The 2nd Annual Holiday in the Square community event returned to Horseheads Friday night. From 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. people flocked to Hanover Square to enjoy a variety of food, music, and vendors.

“We've doubled in size since last year, and it's nice to bring the community together,” Volunteer Chair for Holiday in the Square, Christina Jackson, said.

People could also meet Santa, reindeer, and even hop on a horse and carriage ride. With all the snow over the last few days, Jackson was happy the holiday festivities didn't get snowed on.

“I'm not going to lie, (planning was) super stressful this year, especially with the weather. But it's so amazing that everyone comes together,” Jackson said.

The event was free of charge for families to attend. Holiday in the Square hopes to return to Horseheads in 2023.
