CORNING, N.Y. -- Guthrie Corning Hospital is being recognized for its work in the delivery room. According to Healthgrades, Guthrie's Labor and Delivery Unit received a 5-star rating for C-Section delivery in 2022. 

“It is an honor for us to be given this award. We work very hard to have excellent care for our patients, especially in the C-Sections.” Elizabeth Gordon, M.O. said. 

Healthgrades found a significant difference in hospital quality between those with 5-star rating, compared to hospitals with one star. Data show patients having a C-Section delivery in a 5-star hospital experienced a 60.4% lower risk of experiencing a complication, compared to if they were treated in a 1-star hospital. 

“Our team works together very well,” Gordon said, adding, “I appreciate the hard work the providers, the nursing and the OR staff have done to achieve this goal.” 

2022 marks the third straight year Guthrie's Labor and Delivery Unit is being recognized by Healthgrades.
