CORNING, N.Y. (WENY)-- The Crystal City is being featured on the Hallmark Channel's most festive holiday towns in the country. This year the city will become a Hallmark Christmas town and anyone can now capture the Corning Christmas spirit from anywhere around the world through the channel's website.

Beginning November 27th, on the Hallmark Channel, Corning and all its yuletide decor that makes the season bright will be livestreamed.

To spread Christmas cheer the network is teaming up with towns across the country that hit the mark on the real-life essence of the festive communities featured in Hallmark holiday movies.

"It's a holiday gift that Hallmark is giving Corning by recognizing that it has something special, qualities that they recognize and they want to share it with their audience, Dave DeGoyler, Communications Manager with Explore Steuben said.

This is the first time Corning's showstopping holiday decor and festivities will be featured. The Hallmark Channel has set up a live camera in the heart of Corning's Centerway Square to capture the essence of Corning's Christmas spirit, it's a way to share the city's small-town charm.

"It's pretty nice, it's one thing when someone calls you Hallmark worthy but it's another thing when Hallmark itself reaches out and says you know we want to feature you. Yeah, it's quite an honor really," DeGoyler said.

It's a holiday honor and an opportunity for the Corning community to shine and make the season bright for those watching who may not be able to visit the Crystal City.

"They are thinking of something different to kind of feature real Christmas towns across America that have a festive Christmas spirit and still have that small-town charm the Hallmark Channel is known for, DeGoyler said.

Santa's Crystal House, the Christmas tree, and the annual Sparkle event will all be captured on the livestream. But most importantly on full display will be the sense of community.

"We take for granted sometimes cool things that happen here in the local community so now it's an opportunity to kind of showcase one of those things that's pretty neat," DeGoyler said.

During the holiday season, Corning will host their annual holiday Sparkle event on Saturday, December 3rd featuring many fun family activities.  Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, families can visit Santa in the glass house located in Centerway Square.
