Katherine is originally from Bremerton, Washington and has lived in many parts of the country while her father was in the Navy, such as Nebraska, Virginia, California, Pennsylvania and Texas. Katherine gained her interest in weather from watching Storm Chasers on the Weather Channel. She knew since elementary school that she wanted to be a meteorologist.  

Katherine graduated high school in 2017 from Seneca Valley in Harmony, PA. She job shadowed with the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh her senior year of high school, where she gained experience in forecasting.  

 Katherine went to college at Central Michigan University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Meteorology and minor in mathematics. During her time in college, she was a part of the Student Chapter of American Meteorological Society and her sorority Phi Mu. Katherine completed an internship with Gaylord National Weather Service in the Summer of 2021, where she gained more knowledge about forecasting.  

After deciding Texas was too hot, she packed her bags and moved to the Twin Tiers for some cooler weather. Katherine began working with WENY news October 2022 and has enjoyed it since! In her free time, she enjoys hiking, local coffee shops and wine country in the Finger Lakes region.
