NEW YORK (WENY) -- Governor Kathy Hochul announced today that New York State is dolling out $32 million for the arts spread across over a thousand organizations across the state. Of the organizations receiving money, a good number of them are in Southern Tier.

"This $32 million is the latest significant investment in the State's unprecedented efforts to strengthen the arts and welcome the world back to experience New York's creativity," Hochul said in a prepared statement.

The $32 million is being spread across 1032 organizations across the state and will be used to support everything from arts to dancing to opera houses. In September Hochul announced $150 million in capital funding available through the New York State's Council on the Arts' Capital Projects Fund. Of the $150 million, $100 million has been earmarked to facilitate large-scale capital projects that prioritize community development.

"Arts and culture are a key part of New York's identity, and while the past two years have been challenging, we are taking action to ensure a strong comeback," Hochul said.
