Elmira Police Arrest Man After Finding Illegal Handgun Inside a Car

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - Elmira Police arrested a Pennsylvania man after a traffic stop that resulted in officers finding an illegal hand-gun inside a car.
According to EPD, on Tuesday at around 3:20 in the morning, police conducted a traffic stop on College avenue and west Thurston Street. Police say they saw the driver acting nervous reaching around in the car.
Further investigation revealed that there was an illegal handgun inside the car. EPD recovered a revolver inside a backpack that was laying on the backseat.
The driver, 44 year old Wayne Peters from Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
He was arraigned in Elmira City Court.
