Elmira Police: One person taken to hospital after shooting
UPDATE 10/6: Police on Thursday said a woman was taken to the hospital after Wednesday night's shooting.
Police say when officers arrived, they found the woman in her car with a gunshot wound, along with two bullet holes in the car. Witnesses told police they heard two gunshots directed at the woman's vehicle, and there are also reports of people wearing dark clothing running through backyards shortly after the shooting.
According to Elmira Police, the shooting was not a random act, and the people involved likely knew each other.

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- One person was taken to the hospital Wednesday evening after a shooting in the City of Elmira.
The shooting happened in the area of Walnut and West 1st Street around 8:30 p.m.
An officer in the area confirmed to WENY News that one person was shot, but no further information was given. The condition of the victim is unknown. A description of the suspect(s) was not immediately available.
