CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- Final preparations are underway for the Friends of the Southeast Steuben County Library 2022 Fall Book Sale.

The sale will be held at the East Corning Fire Hall at 11873 East Corning Road from Saturday, Oct. 1 through Saturday, Oct. 8. It features an inventory of books that is replenished several times each day, with all proceeds benefiting programming for the library.

"We are so excited because we have thousands -- literally thousands -- of books, and we're kind of well-known for how organized we are," said Bev Stevens, President of the Friends of the Library Board. "We divided all the books into over 30 categories, so you can easily find what you're looking for. We try to give the best quality books."

The sale will also feature a number of Large Print Books, which you can request ahead of time to Nancy Doutt at [email protected]

While the Book Sale is open to the public, the first day is Members Only Day. If you are not yet a Friend of the Library, you can sign up at the door. Individual Memberships are $5, while Family Memberships are $10.

"You can join [the organization] at the door, so don't feel like you can't come on Saturday," said Stevens. "[However,] it's our busiest day. We have people sometimes lining up at 7:00 in the morning and we don't open until 9 a.m."

The last day of the Book Sale is "Box and Bag Day," where shoppers can fill either a bag or a box for one set price. The Friends of the Library also encourages teachers and employees of non-profit organizations to visit on the last day of the sale for free books. However, they must also contact Doutt beforehand to take advantage of the opportunity.

The full schedule for the Book Sale is as follows:
