(WENY) - The Chemung County Sheriff's office is teaming up with the National Child Safety Council in organizing the annual child safety program.

All elementary students, Kindergarten through 5th Grade, attending Chemung County Schools will receive safety manuals that are age appropriate.

The Sheriff's Office says that the material will cover topics such as, general child safety, dangerous people, bicycle safety, internet safety, and drug prevention.

County Sheriff Bill Schrom says that in the past, local businesses have helped cover the cost of the manuals and it is his hope that businesses will continue to do so.

The NCSC was founded in 1954 and is a national nonprofit organization, which is noncommercial and tax-exempt under §501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. As such, all contributions are tax-deductible.
