ELMIRA HEIGHTS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Local railcar manufacturer and supplier, CAF USA, won the approval for a contract worth more than 800 million dollars.

The contract is for the for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. The MBTA's board of directors approved the contract with CAF USA. The contract is for 102 state-of-the-art type-10 supercar trains to be used on Boston's "Green Line".

The recently approved contract would give the transportation authority the option to purchase even more equipment from CAF USA if needed. If all goes according to plan, the first of four supercars will be delivered in 2026, with deliveries continuing until 2031.
