ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Meet Tootsie, WENY's SPCA Pet of the Week from the Chemung County Human Society & SPCA!

Tootsie is a three-month-old female Labrador retriever and boxer mix who is searching for a gentle, patient owner with a relaxed lifestyle. Due to her shy and timid nature, it is recommended she go to a home with children 10 years old and older who can respect the fact that she may need some time to open up. She does well with other dogs and cats.

While tootsie may be one of the shelter's puppies, the SPCA is holding a two-for-one kitten adoption sale since it is still kitten season. They will also be waiving adoption fees on all adult animals until the end of August to help each animal in the shelter find its forever home.

As the school season approaches in the Southern Tier, the SPCA wishes to remind everyone of their Humane Education Courses coming up in September. More information about each class, as well as links to sign up, are on the shelter's website under their Education tab.

The SPCA is also still seeking donations. As of now, the shelter is mostly in need of dry dog and cat food, towels, blankets, dawn dish soap and paper towels. They are also still looking for volunteers for both their spay and neuter clinics, as well as vaccine clinics.

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Tootsie, fill out an application on the Chemung County SPCA's website here.
