ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Meet Kelly, WENY's Pet of the Week from the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA!

Kelly is a three-month-old female terrier and shepherd mix who is a loveable, big goofball. According to the SPCA, she gets along well with other dogs. It is unsure how she would be with cats, but SPCA's volunteers predict she can learn to cooperate with them due to her young age. Kelly is also good with small children, but will have to learn not to jump on top of people and have proper manners.

The SPCA itself will be closed this upcoming Saturday due to the majority of volunteers attending the 2022 ASPCA Cornell Maddie's Shelter Medicine Conference. A few staff members will still be at the building to take care of the animals and accept donations. In terms of donations, the shelter is mostly seeking dry dog and cat food for both adults and puppies.

The shelter will also be holding a VIP Backstage Tour for adults on Aug. 7. The program includes a full tour of the SPCA while "learning about what it takes to care for animals in a shelter environment." More information can be found on the SPCA's website and Facebook page.

If you or someone you know wishes to adopt Kelly, fill out an application on the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA's website here.
