ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- This week in wine country, sponsored by Finger Lakes Wine Country, we're learning more about upcoming events in downtown Elmira!

Elmira Downtown Development is gearing up for its annual Street Painting Festival. The event will take place from 10AM - 5PM on July 16th, and 10AM - 4PM 17th, with Alive After 5 kicking off the weekend on the 15th.

The street painting festival has been an annual community event in downtown Elmira since 2008. It features dozens of talented artists, using pastels to create works of art the community can vote on to choose their favorites.

The event also features live music, along with artwork demonstrations, food vendors, and other activities for kids and families.

The festival spans East Water Street, Lake Street and East Gray Street downtown.
