Meet Roxanne, WENY's SPCA Pet of the Week!
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Meet Roxanne, WENY's Pet of the Week from the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA!
Roxanne is a six-year-old female rottweiler mix who is looking for "an emotionally secure...low maintenance relationship" with her owner(s). She gets along with other dogs well, but the SPCA is currently unsure about her relationship with cats. For households with children, any age beginning at six years old would be appropriate (although if you have younger children, they can meet Roxanne first to see if everyone would be comfortable).
As the Fourth of July holiday weekend comes to a close, the SPCA's Media Relations & Volunteer Coordinator Jaime Wolf shared some tips for dog owners whose fur babies may be scared of the sound of fireworks. She encourages everyone to speak with their veterinarian prior to the holiday weekend to figure out what is best for their specific pet.
As fireworks are happening, it is essential to get your dogs in a safe environment, such as a quiet room or an area with music to drown out the fireworks. It is also important to not feed your dog any food or water, as they could be potential choking hazards due to their anxiety
If you or someone you know would like to adopt Roxanne, fill out an application on the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA's website here.
