GlassFest Ready to Kick Off in Corning
CORNING, NY (WENY) -- The hottest summer festival returns to Corning's Gaffer District on Memorial Day weekend.
GlassFest 2022 formally kicks off Thursday, with the ceremonial glass ribbon cutting at the Corning Museum of Glass. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, visitors can visit Market Street to enjoy a host of food, craft and art vendors, glass blowing demonstrations, live music and kid-friendly activities.
"Everything you love about GlassFest is back, in person. It's going to be a weekend that I think that people have waited two years to happen again. Live concerts, and outdoor shopping, and music, and everything you love about GlassFest," said Gaffer District Executive Director, Coleen Fabrizi.
In 2021, GlassFest was held in a hybrid format, after going completely virtual in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Gaffer District and its supporters are looking forward to celebrating its return, with music and events the entire family can enjoy, throughout the length of Market Street.
"We have made a very serious effort, not just to have the big concerts in the park, but throughout the footprint of the event. and tons of kids activities. we know people are pent up, and really get out there and enjoy this in credible event, and we're ready," said Fabrizi.
This year's GlassFest will also include a Memorial Day Salute on Sunday beginning at 2:30PM with live music in Riverfront Centennial Park.
GlassFest is presented by Chemung Canal Trust Company.
